This piece was handcrafted in London by my friend Jess Lelong of Lelong Designs, a family jewelry business that began in Paris in the 1950s. Jess's father, Jean Lelong, began making earrings for theatre performers, and Jess joined him as an apprentice in 1982. Today, Jess continues the family tradition from his London workshop.
Jess creates his jewelry using materials that can include genuine vintage French stampings pressed from original steel dies dating from the 1890s–1930s, Czechoslovakian glass, Galalith, gemstones, resin, acrylic, diamante crystals, silver plating, and demi-rouge, a brass and copper alloy. Many pieces also feature traditional fired glass enameling.
Each finished piece is newly handcrafted. Jess often incorporates genuine vintage components, so those materials can show normal signs of age, patina, and variation. Any notable condition issues will be disclosed in the individual listing.
